Search Engine Robot
While no two search engines are exactly the same, they do comprise three main parts:  a robot, or spider, which gathers information as it "crawls" around the World Wide Web; a database, which contains the information the robot has gathered; and a search tool, which enables World Wide Web users to find the information they are looking for.
